Dispersion Equipment

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Products:
DTL Blender

These blenders are extremely compact and simple in operation, making them ideal for either continuous or batch processes that require recirculation. Pre- and post-blending are unnecessary in most operations; often eliminating lumping, flooding, or foaming.DTLblender.jpg (15582 bytes)

  • Uniform, continuous material absorption
  • Simple to operate
  • Mixes without adding air (less foaming and lumping)
  • Blends up to 100 lbs./minute
  • Incorporates easily into existing systems

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Products: Shear Pump

Designed for "on-line" continuous shearing and mixing action. A choice of modularly interchangeable stators and rotors make it versatile for processing a wide variety of products. Variable speed drives may also be used to further adjust the shear and mixing affect. Texturizes to give a smooth body and texture to such products as ricotta cheese and food pastes. Emulsifies to make stable emulsions of products with both oil and water base ingredients; blends to provide continuous, on-line blending without air incorporation or lumps of dry product; reconstitutes to assist reconstitution of powdered products such as milk powders; suspends/disperses to give stable solids in liquid suspension; polishes to improve the appearance of products by providing a smoother and more uniform surface texture.

  • Pumps as it processes (low viscosity liquids)
  • Versatile; choice of modularly interchangeable stator and rotor combinations to texturize, emulsify, blend, reconstitute, suspend, disperse or polish (improve appearance)
  • Economical
  • Sanitary design for processing food or pharmaceutical products

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Products: Colloid Mill

Shearing/mixing forces produce controlled, highly sheared, uniform dispersions and stable emulsions. A wide range of product viscosity may be processed, limited only by the maximum 150 psig (10 bar) inlet pressure. Higher viscosity products are processed at lower flow rates to stay within the pressure limit. Typical applications include salad dressing, mayonnaise, liquid egg homogenization, tomato based
sauces and various personal care products such as lotions and cremes.

  • Up to 50% more flow rate with less heat than other mills
  • Easy to adjust; calibrated ring sets spacing; no special tools; less downtime; may be adjusted while operating
  • Easy to disassemble, only 7 basic parts; cleaning and inspection quick and easy; may also be cleaned in place
  • Longer bearing and seal life; shaft and bearing position independent of clearance adjustment; quieter operation
  • Sanitary design for processing food or pharmaceutical products
  • Flow rates: 400 to 2000 GPH (1500 to 7570 liters/hr.)

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Products: CR Mixer

Patented high-shear mixing technology that produces uniform, stable emulsions, dispersions and foams. Combines product recycling and shear action that can be "tuned" to produce precise effect desired. Varying rotor speed and controlling back pressure at discharge port determine the number of passes the product makes through the mixing zone. For heat-sensitive products (e.g., eggs, latex), incremental mixing moderates temperature rise.

  • Precise, fast, economical mixing
  • Overruns beyond 300%
  • Full control over amount, intensity, duration of mixing, blending, dispersing, beating or whipping action
  • Incremental mixing for heat-sensitive products
  • Process-matched to broad range of products: liquid-liquid, liquid-gas, liquid-solids
  • Ideal for both continuous in-line use or side-arm, sequence use in batch operations

Waukesha Cherry-Burrell Products: Homogenizer/
High Pressure Plunger Pump

Among the most efficient, with the smallest footprint in the industry, the Waukesha Cherry-Burrell homogenizer delivers more output for its plant space than any other. Advanced, fluid-dynamically engineered homogenizing valves achieve the desired degree of dispersion/emulsion with lower pressures, requiring less energy and extending the life of moving parts. Homogenizer.jpg (8527 bytes)

  • Precise, non-adjustable plunger seal; double seals standard, single seals optional.
  • Injection cooled and flushed seals resulting in increased seal life.
  • Headblocks with integral or hardened replaceable valve seats.
  • Sanitary overpressure relief device.
  • Modular valve assemblies; single or double stage, manual or hydraulic.
  • Multiple plunger sizes available for each model.
  • Easy to maintain with front loaded seals and separate drive components.
  • Also available without homogenizer valves for service as High Pressure Plunger Pump
